MAURITIUS TELECOM

2019 | Mauritius Telecom which is the leader telecommunications company in Mauritius had about 357,000 Telephone customers, around 804,000 Mobile customers and 162,000 Broadband Internet customers as at June 2014.

Initially incorporated in 1988 as Mauritius Telecommunication Services – in 1992, while merging with Overseas Telecommunications Services, it has been renamed Mauritius Telecom.

Through 1996, Mauritius Telecom set up 2 fully owned subsidiaries, namely ‘Cellplus Mobile Communications Ltd’ and ‘Telecom Plus Ltd’, to offer services such as mobile and Internet respectively.

A strategic partnership with France Telecom who acquired 40% of shares at Mauritius Telecom in 2000.
